Past

I have always enjoyed working with computers, and as I do enjoy video games, I have a fair amount of familiarity as a user of computer systems. In my household I've always been the person to sort out our internet connection, network issues or computer issues. Below I will outline my experiences with computing so far.

School

In high school studied IPT accelerated, finishing it in year 11. In this subject we were exposed to basic IT concepts such as the system development cycle, system implementation - essentially many of the things UTS cover in Intro to IT. We also got a chance to create a game using visual basic which was my first experience of coding.

Uni - Engineering

I started an engineering degree at UNSW after finishing school. While it didn't end very well for me, one of the subjects I particularly enjoyed (and got a HD in) was Computing for Engineers. The main focus was learning basic concepts such as iteration and loops, using Visual Basic for Applications.

Work

I started out at Delivery Hero as a customer care agent - picking up phones and placing orders with restaurants. After starting my degree at UTS I was asked to help out with some basic IT work, maintaining computers, cleaning them of viruses, sorting out hardware issues and configuring new computers for use. Over the past summer, I was invited to intern there and started managing our network, and some of our in-house servers. It was a great learning experience, on many different levels, learning IT skills as well as many other new things.
